PPG products we stock
Epoxy
- Amercoat 235 Multi-Purpose Epoxy: a two-component, multi-purpose phenalkamine epoxy. PPG lists it as a universal epoxy for ballast tanks, decks, topsides, superstructure and underwater hull, with corrosion protection in salt and fresh water immersion. It is surface tolerant, compatible with water-jetted surfaces and has good adhesion to damp surfaces.
Topcoat
- Amercoat 450H Polyurethane: a gloss aliphatic polyurethane topcoat with unlimited recoatability and excellent color and gloss retention. It is tough, flexible, abrasion resistant and VOC compliant, and it cures through a wide temperature range.
Antifouling
- ABC 3 Ablative Anti-Fouling: a one-component, tin-free, self-polishing antifouling with more than 30 years of proven performance. PPG states it is capable of 60-month performance and has no maximum time to launch. Its controlled ablation rate and smoothing action help reduce drag.
Thinners
- PPG 65 Thinner and PPG T10 Thinner. The product data sheet for each PPG product names the correct thinner.
Where PPG coatings are used
PPG lists Amercoat 235 for ballast tanks, decks, topsides, superstructure, underwater hull, heavy industry and structural steel. Our customers use the Amercoat 235 and 450H system on barges, workboats and steel structures, and ABC 3 on underwater hulls at drydocking.
